About Our Bishop

The   Most  Revd.  Dr. Prem Chand Singh was born on 12th December 1962 in a small village Chandsurari  in  Samastipur  Bihar.  Right  from  his  young  age  he  was a man with immense potential.  He  began   his   ministry  as   a   Diocesan  Worker  in  Jabalpur  Diocese  in   1986, and   placed  at  Bhatapara District Raipur  in Chhattisgarh.  

He has to his credit  Bachelor of Arts Degree  R.D.V.V. Jabalpur, Master of  Arts  (M.A), RDVV Jabalpur,  Bachelor  of   Divinity  -   Serampore College University (Leonard Theological College, Jabalpur),   Doctor    of    Divinity   in    Christian Education,    U.S.A.    Dr   Of  Divinity   in   wider Ecumenical    Leadership   from  Henry    Martyn Institute Hyderabad.

He   was  married   to  Mrs. Nora Singh on 29th October 1987 and they have   two   Children   -  Piyush   & Priyanka. He was Ordained as a Deacon  on  8th   April   1988   at Christ Church Cathedral,   Jabalpur and was Ordained as a Presbyter on 10th April 1990 at St. Augustine Church Bilaspur. He was Presbyter in charge of Disciples Church of Christ, CNI Jabalpur from 1995 – 1999,  and then Presbyter in charge  of  St. Paul's Church, Ghamapur from 1999- 2004.

On  13th April 2004  he was Elected as the 4th Bishop   of   the  Diocese of Jabalpur and was Consecrated as Bishop on 25th April 2004 at Christ Church Cathedral CNI,  Jabalpur, and    his Installation was held on 1st May  2004 at    Christ   Grih   Church, Bhatapara.

As a pastor he was actively involved in the work of   the   Diocese,   was the youth  director of the diocese and then secretary of  the diocese and was     actively     involved   in   the    ecumenical organizations like SCMI, World Vision,  CARAVS,  JCC,   ECLOF, NCCI,   BSI  &   more   than    30 Ecumenical Body.

Being actively involved in the Diocese from a young age, and ordained as a   Presbyter in the same  Diocese  he   always   had   a vision to transform the Diocese of Jabalpur.

Thus far, under his leadership six new schools have been established namely :

1.            Christ Church School For Boys and Girls ISC, Jabalpur
2.            Christ Church Jabalpur Diocesan High School, Jabalpur
3.            Bardsley English Medium School Jalasur, Katni
4.            Christ Church Co-Ed School, Saliwada, Jabalpur
5.            Christ Church Girls Sr. Sec. School Vijay Nagar, Jabalpur and
6.            St. John’s School, Seoni

These  new  schools  have   been   established  with  a  sole  purpose   of extending the mission of the Church through the ministry of Education.

The  Most  Rev.  Dr.  P.  C.  Singh  believes  that the transformation of the society can take place by providing quality education to the children and providing employment to the youth of the church.

The Diocese of Jabalpur had the privilege of welcoming the Bishop as the Deputy Moderator CNI Synod New Delhi on 3rd October 2014.  It was once again that the Diocese of Jabalpur was overwhelmed and overjoyed to know that for the very first time in the history of Jabalpur that the Bishop of the Diocese of Jabalpur was elected as the Moderator of the Church of North India Synod on 3rd October 2017. The Most Rev. Dr. P. C. Singh has held and still holds many posts to his credit. He is the :-

Apart from this as an individual our Moderator is very compassionate, caring and a supportive Bishop. He is dynamic and a visionary Bishop who has always motivated all of us to work whole heartedly without asking for appreciation.                  

As rightly said he is a travelling Bishop who is travelling most of the time with some or the other responsibilities.   He  is  hard  working  and  has  a  tremendous  memory  which  helps him to remember  the  names  of  each  and  every  member  of  the  Diocese,  each and every work assigned to the people of the Diocese and a matter of fact he also remembers the content of the letter which has been drafted by him.

The Most Rev. Dr. P. C. Singh is a kind hearted generous Bishop who always thinks about the upliftment of not only his diocese but whoever is known to him. He is easily approachable and is a role model for the youth of the diocese. As far as his personal life is concerned he leads a humble and simple life and is dependent upon God's help that equips him to be a “Bishop with a difference”.
